Dr. John and Mae Benjamin Scholarship
College Major/Area of Study: Medicine
Student Profile: Glendale Unified School District high school graduating senior who is accepted to attend an accredited college to pursue a medical or pre-med program. The award may be renewable.
Special Requirements: A scholarship statement on a separate piece of paper on medicine must be received with the scholarship application.

Christopher A. Burrows Memorial Scholarship
Deadline for this scholarship is Monday, March 19, 2012.
College Major/Area of Study: Any
Student Profile: College-bound senior who resides in La Canada Flintridge, La Crescenta, Montrose or Verdugo City and is graduating in June 2012 from a high school in La Canada Flintridge or La Crescenta. Student must demonstrate a high level of academic and extracurricular achievement, strength of character, and zest for life. An applicant’s need for financial assistance will also be a consideration.
Special Requirements: All applicants must submit a Burrows Scholarship Statement to be considered (see application instructions for details). Scholarship finalists will be interviewed in April 2012 by the Burrows Scholarship Committee, and the Burrows Scholars will be chosen from the interview group.

Katherine Bush Memorial Scholarship
College Major/Area of Study: A career working with youth i.e. teaching, recreation, pediatrics, etc.
Student Profile: College-bound Crescenta Valley High School graduating senior who is interested in the welfare of children and young people.
Special Requirements: If qualified, a personal interview may be requested.
Application: Student must use a CVHS Scholarship Application plus cover sheet. Completed application packet is to be turned in to CVHS Administration Office by March 9, 2012 to be considered. Please make sure to follow these special instructions.
Average award: $1,000 The award may be renewable for four or five years as long as the student’s educational goal remains the same.

Phil Ellis Scholarship
College Major/Area of Study: Any
Student Profile: Student must be a graduating senior from high school with a 2.5 GPA or better, with no unsatisfactory marks in citizenship on their report cards, and pursuing a higher education in a college, vocational or technical institution. Applicants must be a resident of Burbank, Glendale, Montrose, Verdugo City or La Crescenta.
Special Requirements: Student must be involved with the We Care For Youth program and be referred from the We Care for Youth program. A written scholarship statement must discuss the importance of the We Care For Youth program. Student must be referred by the We Care for Youth program to apply.

The 1st Christian Church of Glendale Scholarship
College Major/Area of Study: Any
Student Profile: Student must show proof of a minimum of 13 years residency in the Glendale, La Crescenta, La Cañada Flintridge, Montrose, Verdugo City, Sunland or Tujunga area. An example of fulfilling this criterion might be by providing a copy of a bill from 13 years prior, showing that the address is in the area. Additionally, student must have a minimum overall 2.5 GPA and must be a U.S. citizen. The award may be renewable.
Special Requirement: Student must have a belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and their personal Savior, and in a scholarship statement (one or more paragraphs on a separate piece of paper), must explain their religious beliefs and views on what it means to be an American.

Glendale Latino Association Scholarship
Deadline for this scholarship is Friday, March 23, 2012.
College Major/Area of Study: Any
Student Profile: Students who have Latino Heritage and are graduating from a Glendale Unified School District high school or Glendale-area private high school. Student must be committed to attending a 2 or 4-year college/university or a technical training institution. Special consideration will be given to those students who provide community service.
Special Requirements: If qualified, the student will be considered for a personal interview. On a separate piece of paper, a written scholarship statement on the student’s Latino Heritage as well as the importance of education is required. Particular focus is placed on student community service.

Glendale Scholarship Endowment
College Major/Area of Study: Any
Student Profile: College-bound, graduating senior of a Glendale Unified School District high school. Student must be committed to attending a 2 or 4-year college/university and must demonstrate financial need. Additionally, the student must show that the scholarship will make a difference in the student's ability to obtain higher education.
Special Requirements: In a written scholarship statement on a separate sheet of paper, the student must discuss overcoming obstacles that he/she has faced during his/her life.

Gonzales Harris Bilingual Scholarship
College Major/Area of Study: Any
Student Profile: Graduating high school seniors of the Verdugo region public/ private schools planning to attend, and students already attending, an accredited community college, four-year college, or vocational school may apply. The applicant must have a minimum overall 3.5 GPA and be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship and be able to demonstrate fluency (written and verbal) in both Spanish and English. The award may be renewable annually until the student completes his/her educational degree.
Special Requirements: Students will submit a statement outlining the importance of education and contributing back to the community; statement should also include reference to students’ bilingual fluency and its benefits including cultural awareness which helps to make one a better citizen overall. If qualified, the student may be considered for a personal interview.

Average award: $2,000 to $6,000 (depending upon college/school to attend)

Tuesday Afternoon Club Scholarship
College Major/Area of Study: Any
Student Profile: Student must be a graduating senior from a high school within the Glendale Unified School District and must be continuing their education at a college, vocational, or technical institute. Financial need must be demonstrated, along with proof of U.S. citizenship and community service. The student should be able to show a potential for achievement, success, and self-motivation.
Special Requirements: In a scholarship statement, the student must discuss the importance of education. If qualified, the student may be considered for a personal interview.
