Application Guidelines
Applying for a Community Foundation of the Verdugos Scholarship
All materials must be mailed, postmarked March 9, 2012 or earlier, or hand-delivered to the Community Foundation of the Verdugos' office by March 9, 2012. Do not use registered or certified mail as this will delay the processing of your application.
You can apply for any scholarship you meet the criteria for; there is no limit. Carefully review the Scholarship Guidelines to see which scholarship criteria best matches you. Each scholarship has its own coversheet of steps. Please follow these steps when applying for each scholarship.
  1. Scholarship Application
Complete the CFV General Scholarship Application.

  2. Scholarship Statement
Some scholarships may require an essay specific to a particular topic. Please follow the steps on the scholarship's coversheet for more information if that is required.

  3. Personal Essay
The CFV General Scholarship Application requires a Personal Essay. Submit a Personal Essay on a separate piece of paper and enclose it with your application (this information will not be published or shared beyond the CFV Scholarship Committees). For your Personal Essay, you may choose option A or B.
    1. Submit your favorite College Application Essay that tells about yourself.

    2. Write a Personal Essay. The Personal Essay will enable us to learn what is important to you and what motivates you. Your essay should discuss your background, goals, why these goals are important to you, and how and why you believe you will achieve them. Remember, we read your essay to find out more about you - so please take your time and compose a clear essay. Your essay should be no longer than 1 page and typed single-spaced or neatly handwritten.
