Guidelines
The Community Foundation of the Verdugos welcomes grant requests from public agencies and nonprofit organizations that serve the Verdugo region including Burbank, Glendale, La Cañada Flintridge, La Crescenta, Montrose, and Verdugo City. Grant recipients must have appropriate fiscal and program accountability. The Foundation does not make grants or loans to individuals unless they are students receiving scholarships (see our section on Scholarships for more information). The Foundation also does not provide funds for religious or political purposes, for budget deficits, or projects that are usually the responsibility of a public agency. Average grant amounts range from $2,500 to $10,000.
Grants are provided in the following areas of interest:
  • Arts and Culture
  • Civic
  • Health and Human Services (examples include projects and services for the disabled/handicapped, general community health, or homeless services)
  • Education Programs
  • Senior Services
  • Student Aid (scholarships)
  • Youth Services
  • Environment and community
Application Procedure
To make your application as effective as possible, refer to the Foundation's current guidelines (in this website) and be aware of information needed before submitting a proposal. Applications may be submitted at any time. Please check our deadlines.
All requests are reviewed by staff and by the Distribution Committee at its regularly scheduled meetings. Funding decisions/recommendations are made by Distribution Committee members only (which do not include Foundation staff). Funding recommendations are then presented to the full Board of Directors for final decision. All grant applicants are notified in writing with respect to grant decisions.
