Additional Information
Adherence to deadlines, guidelines, and application information requirements is essential. Anything less may delay consideration of your request.
  • Please submit only one hardcopy of the proposal; refrain from using bound presentation covers. After the proposal and supporting documents are received, and upon review of the proposal, the applicant may be contacted for a site visit if the application is accepted for further consideration.
  • An applicant may reapply for additional grants after one year from the date of approval. If a proposal is denied, the organization may reapply with a different program/project at the next Distribution cycle. In some instances, with guidance on changes from the Foundation, a denied request may be invited for resubmission at the next Distribution cycle.
  • Approved grants are generally $2,500 minimum. A grant in excess of $10,000 will be considered, but may be funded over several years. If given a multi-year grant, the applicant is usually ineligible for other grants during the funding period. Average Foundation grants are between $5,000 and $7,000.
  • Applicants may telephone or submit a Letter of Intent briefly describing the funding request before submitting a proposal in order to find out if their needs are potentially fundable by the Community Foundation of the Verdugos. We also offer first draft reviews of proposals if received at least two weeks before the chosen deadline.
  • For any agency applicant proposing the provision of services to a partnering agency (i.e., a school within a District), a letter of support from a person of authority in the partnering agency must be submitted with the request.
  • The grant recipient is required to submit a final report evaluating the outcome of the program and/or the use of funds, along with photos, in order to be eligible for future funding.
Grants are made three times a year. Deadlines for the 2010 grant applications are February 1, June 1, and September 1. Only one proposal from an organization is permitted per grant cycle. Approval or denial of your request will be provided to you in writing.
The Community Foundation of the Verdugos wants to be of help whenever possible. Adherence to these guidelines will help us in our efforts on your behalf. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
