Permanence Because the principal of a gift is retained while earnings are used for grantmaking year after year, donors are assured their gift(s) will continue to benefit agencies and residents of the community indefinitely. Simplicity A gift to the Community Foundation may benefit several
worthwhile endeavors through unrestricted funds or specific areas as
designated by the donor. New funds can also be established with the assistance
and direction of the Foundation staff. Since the Community Foundation’s beginning in 1956, we have become experienced in managing and safe-guarding our donors' contributions. The Board of Trustees feel a prudent balance between safety and total return of the endowment is paramount. Public Accountability All grants are used to benefit the public interest and are publicly disclosed. On the other hand, anonymity is adhered to when the donor desires it. Philanthropic Recognition Many donors appreciate the opportunity to assist the community while being recognized for their philanthropy. Others choose a memorial, tribute or named fund to recognize the life and achievements of a special person. Tax Benefits Donations to the Community Foundation are deductible as allowed by U.S. Tax Code. In addition, gifts of appreciated assets like stocks, bonds, mutual funds and real estate and gifts donated by will or trust have other added benefits. |
