| Mission Statement The mission of the Glendale Community Foundation is to provide
counsel to donors and financial support to diverse needs in the communities
we serve. About Us
The Glendale Community Foundation provides financial support
to a broad range of charitable and educational endeavors within
the geographic area served by the Foundation. It is the goal of the Foundation
to provide
leadership and act as a catalyst in identifying and addressing
evolving community needs. This financial support is accomplished by administering
gifts
and grants according to donor wishes and by using the income
from unrestricted gifts and grants as a permanently endowed fund
for charitable distribution
in the areas of social enhancement, cultural enlightenment
and education. Charitable financial support is also provided through
student loans and
scholarships. As a public charity, the Glendale Community Foundation
takes its obligation to operate in the public view and the public
interest very seriously. Accordingly, we make our federal
tax returns, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt
Internal Revenue Service letters, and our financial statements
available to the public. Just contact us via (818) 241-8040,

In August 1956, as part of the City of Glendale's own 50th anniversary
celebration, a number of women from the Glendale Tuesday Afternoon
Club decided to create a local organization that would allow
any citizen to become a philanthropist according to his or her
individual means. Board Members
The members of the Glendale Community Foundation's Board of Trustees
come from a wide variety of businesses and community interests. Endowments
The commonly accepted meaning for an endowment is a fund kept in
perpetuity to provide interest and dividend earnings for the benefit
of a charitable cause. About Community Foundations
A community foundation is a charitable, nonprofit vehicle for people
of all means to make a lasting difference in their community. It is
an endowment for the entire community which, generally, invests the
contributions and uses the earnings year after year to make grants
to the charities in our local area. Staff
